I was listening to interview with Sir Ken Robinson (whose is the most watched TED Talk presenter) on NPR when I heard him say:
"Creativity is a process, not an event." He was speaking about the prevailing myth in modern society that only some of us are creative; that it has been gifted to a select few and others will never be creative.
Like Sir Ken, I believe this to be completely inaccurate. We all start as creative children, but somewhere along the way we lose it. Our childhood creativity either goes un-nurtured, or in some cases, is beaten out of us by an overly structured education system.
I believe that everyone has creativity in them, it just needs a spark. What many people don't understand is that it sometimes takes hundreds of hours to ignite that spark. It is a process and you have to keep trying. You have to keep trying until that spark catches fire.
